Summer Sips
Hi! I’m back to civilization but for less than 24 hours…however, in these lovely 24 hours I was able to say goodbye to a friend as she departed for a trip to Iceland and Norway for an undetermined amount of time, reunite with some of my cousins and aunts and uncles, have a sleepover with my two sisters AND find a recipe for today’s post!
Now for the recipe…
This morning I was up early with aching hip flexors from a run with weights yesterday, but was quickly energized by the sunny weather outside and the knowledge that I was back in my favourite Canadian city. After breakfast with my grandmother (Gram) and my sisters, I stopped in to see a friend at his work. Here’s the refreshing and flavourful drink he made me. Enjoy!
Mango Infused Ice Tea Soda (the name is clearly still in the works)
-1 mango pit
-2 black tea bags
-sugar-free vanilla syrup
-sparkling water
-ice
-mint for garnish (optional)
Directions: Steep the tea in 1 cup of boiling water with the mango pit. Allow the tea to steep for a minimum of an hour (to fully taste the mango flavour) or you can let steep overnight.
Once steeped, throw away the bags and pit (OR even better, save the bags and put them under your eyes for a great de-puffing eye treatment). Pour the tea into a large glass filled with ice and add 1 to 2 pumps of the vanilla syrup.
Fill the rest of the glass with sparkling water and garnish with mint.
What’s your favourite summer drink? Do you like Italian Soda? Or are you more of an Ice Tea/Lemonade person?
enjoy the sunshine,
the cc
